Introduction

As students with disabilities look at colleges, they may find it helpful to talk to the disability services (DS) at each school.  They may be interested in knowing what accommodations they commonly grant, what the process for notifying professors about students’ accommodations looks like, and what additional supports they might provide. If they are visiting colleges, they can try to arrange an appointment with a DS staff member to ask these questions; if not, they can ask to arrange a phone call.

I have created a form students can use for this research and offer it as a free resource.

Learn what changes students will find in the disability services accommodation system when they get to college, including what accommodations are and aren’t commonly approved, and what supports are and aren’t typically available.
