Introduction

When they were in high school, some students with disabilities might have been allowed to bypass taking certain classes required for graduation (sometimes referred to as a course waiver, or a substitution if they took a different course in place of the required course). These students (along with others who didn’t receive such an accommodation) may wonder if colleges offer course waivers or substitutions, and may wonder how much their history may matter in these decisions. In these written posts and videos, you can learn about all of these topics. Elizabeth C. Hamblet, author of Seven Steps to College: A Pathway for Students with Disabilities (Bloomsbury, 2023), offers free information and advice. To learn much more about this and other accommodations, read her book.
